Cool Musebin integration
We integrated with fellow NYC-based music startup Musebin a couple of weeks ago. Musebin allows people write short album reviews (140 characters or less, of course : ) ) that can be posted to one’s followers on Twitter.

Our next big project at 8tracks is “tags” — a word or 2 (or 3) that someone would use to describe and classify a mix.
For now, we’re going to allow DJs to apply up to 3 tags to mixes. In many cases, these tags will be genres. No need for underscores here; you can include natural language tags like “deep house” or “new rave” or “death...

We pushed several changes to the website last night (thanks guys!)
Most notably, a “lightbox” window now prompts you if you inadvertently click away from a mixpage that’s currently playing. The window gives you 2 options:
(1) “Continue anyway” — this will cut off the music and simply take you to the link you’d clicked on, OR
(2) “Open link in a...

An obsolete form of media, primarily used in the 70s. 8-tracks were the 80s equivalent of the cassette tape or the 90s version of the CD, except that you could not rewind or fast forward, but you were able to skip into another sector of the 8 track (aka the ‘track’).
